WISDOM, APPLES & BLACK ROSES: A GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING AND SEEKING WISDOM

Thompson, R. (2016). Wisdom, apples, and black roses: A guide to understanding and seeking wisdom. Pittsburgh, PA: Dorrance Publishing.

Excerpt: This volume is intended to introduce the reader to wisdom, one of the most misunderstood life-changing forces in the universe. The power of wisdom, unlike knowledge and common sense, is given only to those who truly and deeply desire it. The findings and examples presented herein are the result of more than thirty years of observations and interviews. I have gotten to know people who appear to possess the kind of wisdom that propelled them to levels far beyond the masses. Subjects were interviewed informally through relaxed and friendly conversations withouth their even knowing the puropose of my inquiries. Over the last quarter-century plus, my casual research has involved people from almost every state, occupation, race, economic status, age, and, of course, a fair mixture of men and women. In addition, I interviewed men and women from Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, and the Middle East. I was fortunate enough to live in Europe fro almost two years to spend time in eight differnet countries. I must, however, confess my conversatins were with only those who could speak my language. I found the wise were always willing to exchange ideas and were always courteous.
